Mahindra XUV 9e, BE 6e: Here’s everything you need to know about the new electric cars

Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled two new electric SUVs, the XUV 9e and BE 6e. Both vehicles are built on the company’s new INGLO platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles. The starting price for the BE 6e is Rs 18.90 lakh, while the XUV 9e starts at Rs 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Both models are scheduled to launch in January 2025, with deliveries beginning in February 2025.

The XUV 9e sports a coupe-SUV design with a sloping roofline and a distinct triangular headlamp arrangement. It measures 4,789 mm in length and offers 663 liters of boot space plus an additional 150 liters in the front trunk. The BE 6e features a more sculpted design with a minimalist front end. It measures 4,371 mm long and provides 455 liters of boot space and a 45-liter front trunk.

Both SUVs offer two battery pack choices: 59 kWh and 79 kWh, using LFP chemistry. Mahindra claims the larger battery provides a real-world range exceeding 500 km. Both models support fast charging, reaching 20% to 80% charge in 20 minutes with a 175 kW DC charger. The XUV 9e with the 79 kWh battery generates 286 hp and 380 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds. The BE 6e with the same battery produces 288 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, also achieving 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds.
Inside, the XUV 9e features a 43-inch triple-screen setup. The BE 6e has a dual 12.3-inch floating screen layout. Both models include advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, and a two-spoke illuminated steering wheel. Other features include an auto-adjusting heads-up display, ambient lighting, and an illuminated infinity roof. Both SUVs come with iLink front suspension and a 5-link rear suspension, multiple driving modes, and cruise control. Standard features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, smart connected car features, and a built-in Amazon Alexa assistant. Safety features comprise all-wheel disc brakes, six airbags, driver drowsiness detection, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Mahindra also includes features like Driver-Initiated Lane Change Assist and AutoPark. A lifetime battery warranty is offered for the first owner, and subsequent owners receive coverage for 10 years or 200,000 km.
