In a significant step toward improving healthcare access for HIV-positive children and adults, the Rotary Club of Calcutta Majestic has established a six-bedded emergency unit at Arunima Hospice in Behala. This newly built facility is specifically designed to cater to the urgent medical needs of both children and adults living with HIV, offering them a safe space and access to enhanced medical care.
The initiative was officially inaugurated on June 30th, with Rotary Club President Sirshendu Niyogi and his dedicated team playing a key role in the planning and execution of the project. The launch event saw the presence of several notable personalities, including actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay, singer Surajit, and former Rotary District Governors Rajni Mukherjee, Sudip Mukherjee, and Rajendra Khandelwal, among other distinguished guests.
Speaking on the occasion, actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay applauded the effort, stating that such a facility in Kolkata is both timely and praiseworthy. The emergency unit is expected to provide not only critical healthcare support but also contribute to the overall development and well-being of children affected by HIV.
Former Rotary District Governor Rajni Mukherjee emphasized the significance of the initiative, describing it as a crucial step toward uplifting the lives of HIV-positive children and empowering them to lead healthier, more dignified lives within society.
This newly inaugurated unit marks a compassionate and forward-thinking effort to ensure that those affected by HIV are not left behind but are instead supported with care, dignity, and hope for a better future.
